Joseph's Lullaby - Baritone Solo + Piano/Clarinet
This is a beautiful arrangement of the traditional Welsh melody Suo Gan. The lyrics portray Joseph singing the newborn Christ child to sleep, and expressing his faith that the baby Jesus is truly the Son of God, and the Savior of the world.
Lead, Kindly Light - Mezzo-Soprano solo with piano, flute and violin
The text of this song describes a person who previously was very independent and proud of her self-sufficiency, but now finds her best efforts insufficient, and her world falling apart. With darkness and despair closing in around her, she turns at last to the Lord. Following the text, I tried to make the music take you along on her journey from fear, regret and compelled humility, through her pleading for the Lord to lead her, to the peace and light that comes through the Spirit as she willingly submits herself to be led by Him.
My Lord, My Savior, My Son - Alto Solo + Piano
A lullaby sung by Mary to her infant baby Jesus. I tried to imagine what Mary must have felt, knowing that she was a chosen vessel to give birth to, and raise as her own son the very God of Heaven and Earth. Although this must have been an intimidating thought, her instinct to hold, love and nurture the tiny newborn baby was all she really needed to succeed at her task.
What Kind of Servant - Baritone Solo
My older brother, Art wrote the words to this song while in the MTC many years agoand he asked me to write music to go with his words. It's been sung at pretty much every missionary "farewell" sacrament meeting in the family ever since.
